Why Dutch lessons?

Choosing for Dutch education abroad primarily provides a good connection to the Dutch/Flemish school system in case of a possible return. The Dutch education will help your children to maintain their cultural identity as well. This way they stay connected with their ‘roots’ communicate with their Dutch friends and family back home.

Programs and Classes

There are two kinds of language education that we provide:
– Native Language education: where we closely follow the Dutch curriculum
– Foreign Language education: where we use special NT2 teaching materials (NT2 = Dutch as 2nd language)

Time of the classes

The lessons are in addition to any schooling children may currently have and take place after their regular school hours. Classes are held every Tuesday from 3.30 PM – 6.00 PM

Founded in 2009

The Taaltuin was founded in 2009 by a group of enthusiastic parents to fulfill the need for Dutch lessons for Dutch and Flemish children in and around Cleveland.

Our Teachers

Teachers work with Dutch educational materials at all levels.

For whom?

Our students are diverse in age and language skills. Classes are small allowing for tailored learning, promoting a friendly classroom environment.

Multiple curricula

The Taaltuin provides Dutch language classes to both native speaking Dutch children as well as children learning Dutch as a foreign language.
– Native Dutch language education follows the Dutch curriculum.
– Foreign Dutch Language education uses Dutch as a second language material.

Not for profit

The Dutch School Cleveland is registered as a not-for-profit organization governed by a board, comprised of parents and other individuals connected with the school.

Schedule

The classes are in addition to any schooling children may currently have and take place after their regular school hours. Classes are held in Shaker Heights.
